Dr. Daniel Ibarrondo has successfully obtained over $100 million in external funding and resources for the institutions of higher education he has been associated with, non-profit organizations, faith-based institutions, and community organizations. These include funding from private and public corporations and foundations.
Among others, Daniel has obtained funding for the University of Puerto Rico - Mayaguez Campus (UPM), Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico (PUPR), Atlantic College (AC), InterAmerican University of Puerto Rico - Aguadilla Campus (IAUPR), Caribbean University (CU), and Southeastern University (SEU).

Obtained a $10 million corporate donation to close out a capital campaign drive. This was the largest single gift the university had received. (2009) (SEU)
Designed and drafted a strategic five-year plan to reengineer the institution from a primarily associate and certificate program awarding institution to a major college offering undergraduate and graduate degrees in graphic arts, design, and technology. Developed client short and long-range strategic five-year plans for the effective integration of computing and educational technologies into the instructional programs to achieve institutional learning goals, mission, and vision. This included planning for the acquisition of new computing, research, and educational technologies. Construction of an Administration and Student Services Building: Designed and drafted a U.S. Department of Education grant and successfully obtained $2 million in five-year funding for the construction of a technologically “smart” building to house the President’s office, executive council, all administrative student support services; and the creation of a technology-based Teaching-Learning Center for faculty and students. University Endowment Fund: Conceived and drafted a U.S. Department of Education proposal to establish an endowment fund and successfully obtained $200,000 ($40,000 per year over five years) to provide scholarships to economically disadvantaged students. (2000) (CU)
Development of New Academic Programs: Designed and drafted a U.S. Department of Education proposal and successfully obtained over $2 million in five-year funding for the development of new undergraduate and graduate programs in graphics arts, design, and technology. (2000) (AC)
Designed and drafted an “Application of Information Technology to Enhance Core Competencies” project for the development of learning communities. The project merged technology with the designing of learning community modalities for use in non-traditional classroom settings and distance learning courses. Designed and drafted an “Renovation of the Library and Technology Initiatives” project and successfully obtained over $2 million in five-year funding from the U.S. Department of Education for the construction/renovation of library facilities in a newly purchased campus, and development of a Technological Research and Educational Service Center for faculty and students. Graduate Research Programs in Marine Biology: Obtained a 127 ft. research vessel (R/V Chapman) as a donation from NOAA, valued at over $4 million, to conduct marine science research in the high seas. (2000) (UPRM)
University-University Initiatives in Agriculture: Conceived and drafted a U.S. Department of Education proposal and successfully obtained $100,000 in funding to develop faculty and student exchanges and research in agricultural fields between the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez Campus and Rutgers University of New Jersey.
