Transformative, Innovative, Collaborative Leadership for Success.

About Dr. Daniel Ibarrondo

Hello! My name is Dr. Daniel Ibarrondo. I am passionate about higher education and enjoy working with colleges and universities that also serve traditionally underrepresented, historically marginalized, and first-generation college students.

Having held executive and administrative-level positions at colleges and universities in New York, Florida, Massachusetts, and Puerto Rico, I have a proven track record of higher education leadership, developing new academic programs and initiatives, faculty hiring, mentoring, and training, and obtaining multi-million-dollar funding for academic programs and student success initiatives. This includes a proven track record of measurable results, achieving goals, creating new revenue streams, managing teams, and building relationships with faculty, the public and private sectors, corporations, businesses, and government.

Before pivoting into higher education, I spent my career in the private practice of law in litigation, corporate, family, and civil law matters. While doing this, I began teaching law, government, political science, and international relations in the evenings, and I loved it. I then moved into administrative positions and loved higher education even more. It’s been my passion and mission ever since.

Outside of work, I’m an avid researcher, writer, and creator. I spend my weekday evenings crafting novels (fiction and nonfiction), screenplays and creating music. My specific genres of interest are Puerto Rican history, colonialism, and magical realism in the Latin American stream. I enjoy the outdoors, traveling, a healthy lifestyle, and healthy foodie experiences. Interested in networking or connecting? Connect on LinkedIn or email.

“Twenty-first-century instructors should possess an “Asset” mindset, not an industrial- age “Deficit” mindset. An asset mindset focuses on the strengths of each individual learner, while a deficit mindset focuses on any “limitations” a student may have. Every student has a manner in which they best excel. Courses should be designed from a true student-centered approach, with opportunities and methods for students to select how best to demonstrate that they mastered the course content.”

“It is imperative that in today’s changing and pivotal landscape for higher education, faculty need to be prepared to meet and teach each and every student as they arrive in the classroom. Everyone in college can learn. Sometimes the question is not whether the student is “college ready” but whether the college is student ready.”
